A new collection of short stories “MOFFA U RAKKONTI OĦRA” (“MOULD AND OTHER STORIES”) by Alfred Sant has been published under the -- Quinque –- label.

The leading story “MOFFA” takes us forward thousands of year to the times when humanity has made deep advances all over the Known Universe and has left well behind it the planet from which it issued. A mysterious mould is spreading across the planets that have been colonised and it is destroying very slowly all sources of life and energy.

In “Roma Stupida” we visit the Italian capital in the company of Lily who was recently widowed. She is now there with the rest of her family but finds the time to visit the city on her own, as years ago, she used to do when on holiday in Rome with her husband.

In “Verbal” a new investigation is conducted regarding the circumstances which years ago led to the tragic deaths of Sharon, Fiona and Abbie, three young tourists in a horrific accident on the road between Burmarrad and Mosta.

As in “WESTERN” a collection of novellas which won the Malta Book Council 2016 prize for short stories, “MOFFA U RAKKONTI OĦRA” (price in leading bookstores – 15€) consists of 10 stories. They cover a wide range of themes and incidents. Sant who was awarded in 2020 the prize for a lifelong contribution to Maltese literature is wellknown for the great variety of his writings, from plays to novels, short stories, essays and popular history.
