A biker suffered critical injuries when he lost control of the Yamaha he was riding and crashed into the Portes des Bombes in Floriana, the police said.
The accident took place on Saturday at 6.30pm.
The biker, a 46-year-old man from Zejtun, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Magistrate Elaine Rizzo is leading an inquiry.
