Two performances by the MPO in Italy

The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra has performed in two Italian cities - the prestigious Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone in Rome and the Auditorium Manzoni in Bologna.

Under the direction of its resident conductor Michael Laus, the orchestra performed Brahms' monumental Double Concerto for violin and cello, with the participation of soloists Carmine Lauri (violin) and Erica Piccotti (cello) and Tchaikovsky's evergreen Nutcracker Suite. The orchestra performed also the works of three contemporary Maltese composers: The Forbidden by Reuben Zahra, Mesogeios by Christopher Muscat (featuring Francesco Sultana playing traditional Maltese instruments) and Crux by Josef Bugeja.

For the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, this tour was both another means of cultural exchange as well as an opportunity to create lasting memories that resonate across borders.
