The Police Force and Heritage Malta have signed a Memorandum of Understanding that will lead to both parties working hand in hand in various areas, including restoration, education, cultural activities, and research, among others.

The collaboration agreement was signed by Police Commissioner Angelo Gafà, and the CEO of Heritage Malta Noel Zammit at Fort St. Elmo in Valletta.

The five-year agreement is the result of positive discussions between the Police Corps and Heritage Malta, a statement by the police read.

Among its main objectives is the renovation and operation of the Malta Police Museum at the General Headquarters in Floriana, while Heritage Malta will also provide assistance and consultancy to the Police Force regarding the presentation and operation of the same museum.

This agreement will also see the Police Force and Heritage Malta organising events together for the public and providing excellent opportunities for the Police Force - which is one of the oldest Police Force in the world, to explain its history.

Both parties have also agreed to coordinate activities to raise awareness about cultural heritage, including visits to schools and community centers, as well as concerts by the Police Band.

Gafà said that this collaboration agreement was signed this year as the Police Force celebrates its 210th anniversary and, at the same time, marks 70 years of operation from the General Headquarters in Floriana, which celebrates its 300th anniversary since its construction.

"Through this agreement, we look forward to continuing to strengthen the history of the Force and the country by educating our members and spreading knowledge in the community,” he said.

Zammit expressed satisfaction that a formal agreement has been reached, further solidifying the already great relationship between these two entities.

He stressed his eagerness to see Heritage Malta collaborate even more closely with the Police Force for the benefit and enjoyment of the population.
