VisitMalta has announced the renewal of its partnership with the Giro d'Italia for the 2024 edition. The Malta Tourism Authority will continue sponsoring the Giro d'Italia, "further solidifying VisitMalta's presence as a key player in one of the most renowned sporting events on the international stage."

"The event is broadcast in approximately 200 countries worldwide, reaching an estimated audience of 650 million viewers. Additionally, it will maintain extensive visibility across official social media channels, boasting over 4.2 million followers," VisitMalta said.

This year's Giro d'Italia will span 3,386.7 km, commencing from Venaria Reale in Turin and culminating in Rome. "VisitMalta will once again be prominently featured during all the stages of Giro d'Italia with banners and digital advertising as well as a stand at the Open Village, adjacent to the finish line area, offering information on the Maltese islands of Malta, Gozo and Comino."

During the press conference held during the ITB fair in Berlin on 5 March to announce the renewal of this partnership, Valerio Agnoli, former professional cyclist and current VisitMalta coordinator for Sponsorship with Polti Kometa, presented the Giro d'Italia trophy. The trophy is the original one won by then-cyclist Ivan Basso in 2010, who now serves as the Manager of Polti Kometa cycling team.

"Sports tourism remains a cornerstone of our tourism strategy. This niche sector continues to attract visitors who are eager to explore the beauty of the Maltese islands while participating in or spectating various sporting events held across the archipelago. Malta's world-class facilities consistently draw international athletes and coaches, underscoring the high standards of hospitality available in our country," remarked Minister of Tourism Clayton Bartolo.

Carlo Micallef, CEO of Malta Tourism Authority, said: "We are thrilled to extend our marketing partnership with the Giro d'Italia for the 2024 edition. This cooperation perfectly fits into our Strategic Tourism Plan, which aims to strengthen destination marketing to targeted audiences and boost the attractiveness Malta and Gozo's tourism offer. By building on last year's collaboration with the Giro d'Italia, the Malta Tourism Authority is strengthening the VisitMalta brand, reaching a global audience of millions and reinforcing our commitment to promoting sports and year round tourism to Malta and Gozo."

Paolo Bellino, CEO of RCS Sport, said: "I am thrilled to announce the renewal of our partnership with VisitMalta. This continued collaboration presents an exceptional opportunity for both parties, and I am confident it will significantly enhance the visibility of the destination. We anticipate that the 2024 edition of the Giro d'Italia will be among the finest productions to date. Thank you, and here's to another successful Giro d'Italia."
