President-Elect Myriam Spiteri Debono was given a warm greeting as she left her residence in Birkirkara on her way to be sworn-in as Malta’s 11th President.
Spiteri Debono will today become Malta’s Head of State, replacing George Vella at the end of his five-year term.
Spiteri Debono spent a few minutes speaking to well-wishers, some of whom came bearing gifts such as flowers and books, before she was driven off to Valletta.
