The Nationalist Party is claiming that Transport Malta officials are irregularly managing the berthing of vessels near the American University of Malta premises in Cospicua.

In a statement on Wednesday, the PN said that the AUM’s has never exercised its role to give TM a summary of berthing activities along the university’s premises. The party stated that berthing activities are instead being managed by individuals on a personal level, despite the fact that they are TM officials.

The PN thanked the genuine workers within TM, urging the police and the authority to shed light on the latest scandal.

The opposition also asked whether the police had suggested the suspension of three TM officials in light of ongoing investigations.

The PN called for the authority’s internal investigation into the matter to be made public.

The statement was signed by PN MPs Ivan Castillo, Darren Carabott, and Mark Anthony Sammut.

In reply, Transport Malta said that none of its officials has jurisdiction on the management of berthing of boats with the AUM pier in Cospicua.

Transport Malta said that the procedure for berthing in Zone B is beyond the Authority’s purview, and no individual is authorised to manage vessel berthing.

Furthermore, Transport Malta categorically denies collecting fees for vessel berthing in Zone B, as it falls under the management of AUM, the agency said.
