The Malta College of Arts, Science, and Technology (MCAST) and the Institute of Business Management and Commerce (IBMC) organised the 'Business Career EXPO' 2024 on campus in Paola. The initiative, spread over two days, focuses on career paths related to business.
President of Malta, Miriam Spriteri Debono, visited the EXPO this morning. This marked the President’s first visit to the MCAST Paola Campus.
Addressing staff and students, the President said, “Students are the foundation for the future, and those who are guiding them to fulfil their dreams are greatly contributing to our society.” She thanked all EXPO participants for their contribution towards the Malta Community Chest Fund.
MCAST Principal and CEO Professor Joachim James Calleja said, “This initiative brings together academics, students, and industry partners, enabling the College to strengthen one of its core values and help its students achieve industry relevance. MCAST is committed to working with players within the business industry to ensure the relevance of courses at the college and to prepare students in the best possible way to land successful careers in the future.”
The Business Career EXPO brings industry partners closer and helps them benefit from the opportunity to meet the College's students in their academic environment. During the event, students following business-related courses at the College met and discussed future opportunities with industry partners, providing them with the perfect networking session. The College makes every effort to ensure that its students understand the importance of the business world.
Director at MCAST’s Institute of Business, Management and Commerce (IBMC), Mr Andrew Galea, explained, "The IBMC regularly organises networking events, programme reviews with industry partners, job exposures within its courses, and real-life cases within the lectures. This is part of the College's industry-on-campus approach that prepares all students for employment and, more importantly, with the required soft skills. We are grateful for the constant support received from industry."
The IBMC currently has over 1,300 students attending full-time courses. The Institute offers management, marketing, accountancy programmes including the ACCA programme, finance, and other business-related subjects ranging from entry-level to Bachelor's and Master's Degree courses. The institute makes every effort to ensure that its students understand the importance of the business world by regularly organising networking events, program reviews with Industry Partners, and providing job exposure within its courses.
Donations amounting to around 7500 Euro collected from this event were presented to the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation. The event’s main sponsor for this initiative is the Central Bank of Malta.
