A 69-year-old motorcycle rider was grievously injured in a traffic accident on Monday at 7am.

The accident occurred on Triq Anton Buttiġieġ in Żejtun. Preliminary investigations found that the Piaggio Vespa, ridden by the 69-year-old who resides in Żejtun, and a Volkswagen driven by a 35-year-old woman who resides in Mosta, collided.

The motorcycle rider was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance, and was certified as having suffered grievous injuries.

Investigations are ongoing.
