The Parliamentary Secretary for Animal Rights Alicia Bugeja Said launched the "Check Your Pet" initiative at the Public Service EXPO at MFCC Ta’ Qali, aiming to raise more awareness for the proper care and treatment of animals.

She said that through a vehicle equipped with veterinary care equipment, pet owners can bring their animals to the EXPO to be checked by veterinarians.

"Through this initiative, we want to increase awareness about the prevention of animal diseases and the importance of regularly taking pets to veterinarians for check-ups," Bugeja Said said.

She thanked the Animal Welfare Directorate for this initiative, the vehicle of which will be touring villages and towns in Malta and Gozo, and has invited pet owners to make use of this service.

Director of the Animal Welfare Directorate Joseph John Vella explained that this initiative will further strengthen the Directorate's goals of encouraging greater responsibility among pet owners and raising awareness about the importance of pet care.

The "Check Your Pet" initiative will be available at the Public Service EXPO until 19 May, 2024.
