Ministry of Health, MUMN reach agreement over centre for mental health education

Health Minister Jo Etienne Abela inaugurated a centre that will offer a number of seminars related to mental health and the well-being of nurses and midwives.

In a statement, the ministry explained how the MUMN and the ministry reached an agreement to collaborate and commence these seminars that offer training and education on mental health and the well-being of health professionals.

Abela explained that these seminars will be attended by around 4,200 people and reiterated that the seminars will offer help to health professionals. He added that he believes that these seminars will be of importance and will help health professionals to deal with situations they deal will on the daily.

“Through this collaboration, we will ensure that health professionals will be trained and receive help when needed to safeguard their mental health. This is part of the government’s vision of mental health, in which we ensure that the mental health of professionals is safeguarded since they are crucial to the healthcare offered to the Maltese people,” Abela concluded.
