‘Both Joseph Muscat and Robert Abela have the Vitals inquiry, and they must publish it’, Grech says

Opposition Leader Bernard Grech said Saturday that both former Prime Minister Joseph Muscat and Prime Minister Robert Abela have the Vitals magisterial inquiry in their hands, and they must publish it immediately.

In an interview on the party media, Grech said that Abela’s last tool is to do everything to discredit the country’s courts and magistrates, by attacking them solely because the persons involved do not want to face justice.

The magisterial inquiry into the Vitals agreement has led to charges being brought up against former Prime Minister Joseph Muscat and three former minister. The deal reached in 2015 saw the transfer of three public hospitals to the private sector, but it was annulled by a court of law in 2023.

“We have many politicians, high officials, ex-politicians who are being charged criminally, and this is not to be taken lightly. It is not a joke,” Grech said.

He said that the magisterial inquiry into the Vitals case which issued these charges must be published. Grech said that Abela, while reiterating that he wants it public, is doing all he can in Court through the State Advocate not to have it published.

“This is because he is worried. He has the magisterial inquiry and knows its contents. Even those accused know what is in it, that is why they are worried,” Grech said.

He said that Abela and Muscat must publish it immediately, and that he had written to the Attorney General to publish it and give him a copy, so that the public could know what it contains.

Grech said the PN will continue its pressure with all means possible, as the public has the right to know the full truth.

“Everyone knows and is fed up with the corrupt government, that Abela betrayed the Maltese and Gozitan public, and is there for the criminals, but not the sick, youths, and workers,” Grech said.

Grech’s message to voters is that on 8 June, the voter can open the doors of opportunity for the party who is not compromised with criminals, meaning the PN.

“On 8 June, you need to vote the Nationalist party, both MEPs and Local Councils. It is important that your vote goes only to the PN,” Grech said.

“Do not experiment with your vote. Each vote not given to the PN is a lost vote. A strong voice which will work in your favour,” Grech said.
