Animal Welfare Commissioner condemns Luna Park location near Petting Farm

Monday, 20 May 2024, 18:13 Last update: about 24 days ago

Commissioner for Animal Welfare Alison Bezzina strongly disapproves and condemns the decision to set up a Luna Park in such proximity to the Ta' Qali Petting Farm.

This location is home to elderly farm animals spending their final days and hundreds of birds that are highly sensitive to sound and noise vibrations.

“It is planned for the Luna Park to be open every day for two whole months, and it is unfathomable that out of all the open spaces available, this specific location was chosen for the second consecutive year. Regrettably, the Commission was never consulted. This decision goes against animal welfare principles and sends the wrong message about the respect we should have for animals,” Alison Bezzina, Commissioner for Animal Welfare.

The Commissioner urged the responsible authorities to reconsider this location and to prioritize the health and well-being of the animals at the Ta' Qali Petting Farm.
