The Malta Football Association's Protests Board has officially rejected Marsaxlokk FC's complaint regarding their Premier League final defeat, cementing Floriana FC as the league champions.

The dispute stemmed from the final match on May 16, 2026, which ended in a 2-1 victory for Floriana. Marsaxlokk filed a formal protest earlier this week, arguing that Floriana's decisive 92nd-minute goal should have been disallowed. They claimed the ball entered the net directly from a throw-in without touching any other player, which violates the Laws of the Game.

Representatives from both clubs presented their arguments before the independent judicial body on Thursday. Following deliberations, the board ruled against Marsaxlokk's appeal and sustained the original match result.

The MFA announced on Friday that the board's decision is final, takes immediate effect, and has been communicated to both clubs, adding that no further comments will be made.
