Fr. Martin Borg has been appointed by Archbishop Charles Scicluna as the new parish priest of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Mqabba.

The Archdiocese of Malta announced the appointment on Sunday morning.

Archbishop Scicluna expressed his gratitude towards outgoing Mqabba parish priest Fr. Blake Camilleri for his dedicated pastoral service to the community. The Archdiocese said that Fr. Blake will now be focusing on his studies.

He is also chaplain and confessor of the Discalced Carmelite nuns in Cospicua, as well as an extraordinary confessor of the Discalced Carmelite nuns in Tal-Virtù, Rabat.

Born on 6 November 1957, Fr. Martin Borg began his journey to priesthood in the Order of the Discalced Carmelites, studied philosophy and theology at INSERM, and graduated in Pastoral Theology from the University of Malta. He was ordained as a priest on 10 July 1987.
