The Planning Authority has ordered the removal of an unauthorised structure, located in Buġibba's foreshore, that was recently being used for a jet ski operation. The PA's enforcement officers have also ordered for all activity to be ceased immediately.

The Planning Authority said on Tuesday afternoon that, following a report, its enforcement officers instructed for the wooden structure to be removed without delay and for all activity to be shut down on the spot.

The individual responsible for this block, which was placed in a public Buġibba swimming area, indicated that they had obtained clearances from other entities to proceed with their jet ski operation, the PA said.

In response, the PA informed them that "should the structure not be removed, the Authority will proceed with the issuance of an enforcement notice in accordance with applicable legislation."

St. Paul's Bay mayor Censu Galea wrote about this structure earlier on Tuesday morning, noting that his local council was acting on the issue after he learned that no permit was granted for its development by either the Planning Authority or the Malta Tourism Authority.

"This wooden room has apparently been placed there without any permits. In any case no permits were issued by the council. Those who blame the council are doing a great disservice to the locality," Mayor Galea wrote on Facebook.

The PA concluded that it remains committed to upholding planning law and ensuring that all development and activities are carried out in full compliance with established procedures and permission requirements.
