Moviment Graffitti said: "We are proud of Malta's Freedom, and we believe that the meaning of this day should be an active one, and not simply ceremonial. As a neutral country, our country has the duty to promote peace in international fora such as the United Nations.
“As one of the few neutral countries within the European Union, this role should be amplified, and Malta should form alliances with other countries both within the EU as well as with non-EU members to oppose war and instead promote peace, global justice and international co-operation. In this regard Moviment Graffitti welcomes the decision of the newly elected socialist government in Spain to withdraw troups from Iraq."
"As a movement that believes in neutrality and peace, Moviment Graffitti reiterates its opposition to the visits of warships in Malta. The visits of warships are not only a threat to Malta's security if incidents or attempts against them take place, but are also in contradiction with Malta's mission as a neutral country. This mission was obtained through Freedom Day."
In the meantime Moviment Graffitti is inviting organisations and individuals to form part of a National Movement for Peace and Neutrality by sending an email to [email protected] or by writing to Moviment Graffitti, PO Box 24, Sliema.
