Malta Independent Tuesday, 6 April 2004, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

Ta’ Gewwa will be broadcast on Tuesdays at 7.15pm on TVM with a repeat on Wednesdays at 10.30pm. Clare Agius will be presenting the programme.

The team of people working on the programme comprises Faye Mallia, producer; Frans Lia, director; Nadine Naudi, assistant producer; and Charles Grech, cameraman.

Addressing a press conference, MIC acting head Carmel Attard explained that this series of 13 programmes will serve to inform the Maltese people on the significance of EU enlargement.

“More importantly,” said Mr Attard, “the programme will aim to bring to the fore the human dimension of the EU by discovering the different peoples and cultures with whom we, the Maltese people, will be sharing and living in this new Europe.”

Mr Attard said EU enlargement will be a historic landmark not just for our country but for the whole of Europe.

“We feel that this event will only be complete if the Maltese people are made aware and feel part of this historic moment,” said Mr Attard.

Ms Agius told journalists that together with her team she would be travelling to different countries to how people live.

“Maltese households will be able to get to know the people, their customs, and the culture of the various countries,” said Ms Agius. “The programme will also seek to understand what impressions these people have of Malta and the Maltese.”

PBS head of TV programmes John Inguanez explained his company’s involvement in the co-

production of Ta’ Gewwa.

Every programme will include a competition and there are fantastic prizes to be won from Go Mobile and Time International.
