PA News said that visitor numbers to Gozo have leapt 30 per cent in the last six months, pushing Malta and Gozo into the fifth place in the top 10 villa holiday destinations table compiled by the Meon Villas holiday company.

Corfu topped the top 10 in this category, followed by Portugal’s Algarve and France. Menorca is fourth followed by Malta and Gozo in fifth and Majorca in sixth.

In another news report concerning Troy, this time on ICWales.co.uk, actor Orlando Bloom, who played alongside Pitt in the film, said that he got a taste of what it means to be a superstar for the first time when in Malta.
