Harry Vassallo And Arnold Cassola visit Ark Publishing

This was the second in a series of visits organised by AD to express its support for environmentally friendly businesses in Malta and Gozo. The first company visited was Edible Oil.

Dr Vassallo expressed AD’s appreciation for the policy adopted by Ark Publishing Ltd through which it collects thousands of copies of the yellow pages directory for recycling.

“We hope that other businesses follow Ark Publishing’s lead and start collecting the published material they produce for recycling. Malta’s waste problem can only be tackled through the efforts of all stake holders. We cannot expect the state to solve everything – we all have to play our part”.

He said it was a pity that not enough has been done to promote a culture based on the reduction, reuse and recycling of waste. “This requires a culture change and we welcome the fact that Maltese businessmen like those behind Ark Publishing and Edible Oil have taken the initiative in this field,” he said.

Professor Cassola spoke about the contribution of environmentally friendly businesses towards the economy and job creation.

“Green economic policies generate wealth and employment while improving everybody’s quality of life. AD urges consumers to support environmentally friendly businesses,” he concluded.
