Fight Off the election blues by watching Celine Dion tribute show

Malta Independent Wednesday, 5 May 2004, 00:00 Last update: about 21 years ago

Tracy Shield will impersonate Celine Dion in what has been promised to be ‘a memorable performance’. The organisers have been planning the show for eight months and are already swamped with bookings. They have appealed to those interested in watching the show to book now before it is too late.

Joe Brown will head a live orchestra and dancers will also perform on stage with Tracy, who has a career in the UK as a solo artist in her own right.

She appeared on the British talent show Stars in their Eyes and sang to a television audience of 16 million people. “It was brilliant,” she said, “and I think I got about 131,000 votes from the public.” Tracy said she was delighted to be in Malta and promised everyone a great performance on the night(s).

She will be singing all of Celine Dion’s songs in the same key as the original artist. “It is very hard to sing her songs, but I can do them and I very much enjoy singing them,” she said. In fact, a CD of Tracy’s was playing in the background and it sounded very similar, if not identical, to Celine Dion.

Tickets are priced Lm10, Lm11, and Lm12. They are available from the Hilton, Palazzo Parisio, Ziffa Cafe in Valletta and Gilardu Kiosk in Valletta. Main organiser Peter Sands concluded: “We have the best Celine Dion tribute show in the world. Beat the voting blues by coming to watch it at the Hilton.”
