During April, the authority processed 93 notifications of development which, according to the Development Notification Order 2001, do not require a formal application.

In the same month, 78 stop and enforcement notices were issued, 51 in Malta and 27 in Gozo.

Added to this, 151 enforcement cases were sanctioned by the issue of a permit. Another 50 cases were resolved because the owners decided to remove the illegal development following enforcement action and 38 cases were withdrawn by Mepa.

The authority’s endeavours to strengthen its enforcement actions resulted in an all-time record of 257 compliances, nearly 100 more than the previous month. This is the second consecutive month that a record of compliances has been recorded.
