The decision was taken following a meeting between the public entities sector of the UHM and MTA workers.
During the meeting, the workers were given information on the negotiations of the collective agreement with the authority as well as with the Collective Bargaining Unit. Steps have been taken to try and resolve the situation.
A meeting was held in the presence of Tourism and Culture Minister Francis Zammit Dimech, who was assisted by members of the Collective Bargaining Unit and the MTA management.
Despite this, the authority has not changed its view and none of the MTA representatives made any effort to open discussions that could lead to a solution, claimed the UHM.
The public entities sector of the union believes it was not ethical for the MTA management to send a letter to the workers’ homes giving them details of a collective agreement that has not yet been finalised.
