Man Accused of defrauding and threatening woman

Anthony Ellul, 42, from Marsa, was charged with defrauding Brenda Carabott of more than Lm1,000 and with threatening her.

Magistrate Dennis Montebello heard the defendant plead not guilty to the charges brought against him. The defendant also requested bail. In its reply, the prosecution informed the court that it had taken the police nine months to find the accused, who was also wanted by them for investigations regarding other alleged crimes.

Magistrate Montebello placed the man under house arrest.

Police inspector Joseph Cordina prosecuted.
