The 60-year-old man, who cannot be named as it would reveal the identity of the victim, was given a two-year jail term suspended for four after he violently and indecently assaulted and corrupted his granddaughter last year. The court, presided over by Magistrate Antonio Mizzi ordered the accused not to approach the girl for the coming year.
Inspectors Simon Galea and Louise Calleja prosecuted while Dr Anglu Farrugia appeared for defence.
