The answer to these and many other questions can be found in the just-published Island Travel Yearbook 2004. This is the 14th edition of the travel industry’s only trade specific reference tool which is published by Island Publications Ltd (IPL).

The 252-page yearbook provides speedy access to the names, addresses, communications details and personnel information of all companies involved in Malta’s travel industry. IPL’s managing director and publisher Terence Mirabelli presented a copy of the yearbook to Tourism and Culture Minister Francis Zammit Dimech at the Auberge d’ Italie on 30 April. IPL’s Group Advertisement Director Josephine Mirabelli was also present. Dr Zammit Dimech congratulated the publishers on the yearbook’s presentation and on the wealth of detail it contains. “This is a book that the travel industry will no doubt find very useful”, he remarked.

Mr Mirabelli also presented the minister with a copy of the 2004 edition of the Malta Hotels Directory – the official accommodation guide produced and published by IPL for the Malta Tourism Authority.

Island Travel Yearbook 2004 contains travel-related statistics and data, full details on the major conference venues, information on yachting and anchorages, a comprehensive listing of all airlines that serve Malta, car rental companies, ferry services, forex companies, travel agencies, tour operators, the accommodation sector, diving schools and English language schools, plus exhaustive chapters on general information, museums and places of interest.

Terence Mirabelli said: “ITY filled a void when it was first published in 1991. The yearbook has become an essential reference source for the industry – not only in Malta but also abroad.” The yearbook, updated annually, is available at Lm8.75 directly from the publishers and from leading bookshops and newsagents in Malta and Gozo. Last September, Island Publications won the Best Media and Promotion category at the 2003 Malta Tourism Awards for its titles, that also include the trade magazine Island Travel Trader and travelmalta.com
