The Country’s financial situation should be addressed first, says Dr Alfred Sant

Addressing a social activity for women at Buon Cafè Cafeteria in Paceville, Dr Sant said that the Malta Labour Party will never accept the weakening of the welfare state and pension system.

Replying to questions by the women present, Dr Sant spoke about the country’s education system, saying that it did not really prepare the Maltese students to face the world of work. He added that education should be given maximum priority.

On the unemployment situation in Malta, Dr Sant said the European Socialist Party, of which the MLP will form part at the European Parliament, is the most consistent party on social issues such as unemployment.

In a separate activity in Paola, Dr Sant said the Maltese people should vote for the party which has the best team for the 12 June EP election and also for the local council election in the locality.

He also referred to the unfair way the state’s television station (PBS) was reporting the Labour Party’s electoral campaign, adding that nothing will stop the party from getting its message across to the Maltese people.
