Dr Gonzi explained the importance the PN gives to education, job creation, the environment, solidarity and peace and solidarity in the Mediterranean.
Education hones Malta’s human resources, which can be considered to be the island’s single resource, said the prime minister. He said the MEPs elected must identify the opportunities the EU offers to promote job creation.The prime minister also spoke of the important work MEPs must do in terms of the environment. They must attract the funding needed to address Malta’s problem of waste management to raise the quality of life of the Maltese and tourists, he said.
The island is dependent on the stability of the Mediterranean market and the MEPs elected must work towards this stability, continued Dr Gonzi. He concluded by saying that the PN candidates for the EP election are consistent, capable and determined to speak for the causes of the Maltese.
The Prime Minister yesterday also met representatives of the National Pensioners Association and the National Council of the Elderly.
