Addressing a meeting for youth organisations, Labour leader Alfred Sant said youths should also speak about other problems such as housing, unemployment, the environment, the economic problems being faced by the country and the pension system.
He said youths were too specialised in specific issues and “this worries me”. Dr Sant said youth organisations should have a direct line with the members of the European Parliament elected on behalf of the Malta Labour Party so that these can express their concerns at a European level.
Also addressing the youths was the vice president of the European Socialists Gerhard Schmidt who spoke about the importance of being represented at the European Parliament since here is where the most important decision are taken. He urged take full advantage of the opportunities presented by EU membership.
