Police sources said the woman was returning home after an errand to the bank at around 9.30am. Just as she was opening the front door of her house in Main Street, Birkirkara, a man pushed her inside and demanded the money she had. It is understood that the man followed the woman from the bank.

The woman gave her assailant the Lm272 she had got from the bank and he fled the scene.

Magistrate Antonio Mizzi was informed about the case and appointed several experts to assist him with the inquiry.
