Dr Vella said he was very satisfied with Dr Mintoff’s candidature considering that it was Dr Vella himself who had encouraged Dr Mintoff when was thinking about whether he should contest or not. Dr Vella thanked all MLP candidates and made it clear that they were not buying a holiday ticket but vying a post of great responsibility. The Malta Labour Party, according to Dr Vella, should be proud of having people like Dr Mintoff within its ranks. He said he has no doubts as to Wenzu Mintoff’s abilities and will surely not be disappointed if Dr Mintoff is elected to the European Parliament. Dr Vella finished his speech by wishing Dr Mintoff the best of luck.

Dr Mangion told those present that he has known Dr Mintoff since their student days at university. In 1975, himself and Dr Mintoff, together with others, launched a socialist students union. Dr Mangion praised Dr Mintoff, describing him as mature, politically prepared and dedicated to the Socialist cause. Dr Mangion launched his appeal for all to vote Labour, as the Malta Labour Party’s aim is that of getting three seats in the European Parliament. He thanked Dr Mintoff and all the Labour Party candidates for working as a team.

Finally, Dr Mintoff thanked all those who have helped in his campaign. Dr Mintoff referred to the Euro-Parliament bid experience as an experience that will stay imprinted in his mind forever. He thanked Dr Vella and Dr Mangion whom he referred to as being a point of reference.
