Workplace Bullying – the unions

Malta Independent Saturday, 12 June 2004, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

I approached the unions to get their feedback. Here is the answer from the Union Haddiema Maghqudin.

“Cases of bullying in the workplace are very sensitive issues which UHM takes very seriously. Therefore when an employee reports an act of bullying on himself or even on another employee, immediate action is taken. First of all, we gather all information possible with regard to the specific case and study the bullying allegations with extreme caution.

“When we have valid proof, and can confirm that we have a genuine problem of bullying, we inform the management at the victim’s place of work and see that appropriate action is taken. We follow up on the case until we are sure that we have re-instated order at the workplace and that the victim can work in an adequate environment.

“Our Union will take care of the moral aspects of the victimised worker and does so by using available governmental entities such as Agenzija Appogg which works with people with these types of problems.”
