During a press launching, MIA’s CEO Peter Bolech said that the development and progress, particularly in the area of communication, is ongoing and it is vital to keep up with its fast pace and ensure that the acquired momentum does not stop or is slowed down, as this would jeopardise the process of advancement in general.
“At MIA we are fully aware of this new era that the world is facing and we are not simply adapting to the changes it is bringing about but, more importantly, we are gearing up for future developments on all levels” Mr Bolech said. He added that a new era requires a new image and this is why MIA has recently embarked on an exercise across the board to renovate the company’s corporate image.
The new website presents a clearer picture of the entire MIA spectrum. It is more informative in content but at the same time designed for easier reference, more practical and user-friendly. Additional items have been inserted which will certainly be of interest to the site’s visitors, and the most popular pages have been improved to a remarkable extent.
“We are very pleased to note that the MIA website – www.maltairport.com – is among the most visited sites in Malta. Suffice it to mention briefly the following statistical figures for May this year”, he said. The total number of pages visited was 1,096,004 and average hits per day amounted to 36,534. The average amount of data transferred per day is 2.39 gigabytes.
The most visited pages were Flight Information (Arrivals) with 305,441 hits, the weather with 279,953 hits, Flight Information (Departures) with 70,144, the Main Page that had 55,216 hits and Radar Image which had 22,957 hits.
Mr Bolech said these results were interpreted as a good indication of interest in Malta International Airport, its functions and activities. It was also a show of confidence and promised well for the future, he said, and the fact that so many eyes were on them and their performance enhanced the awareness of our responsibility to our clients and business partners.
“May we assure you that we are committed to strive to meet the challenges of this new era which has now dawned and we will lose neither time nor opportunity to make MIA a vital link of communication in Europe and beyond,” Mr Bolech concluded.
