Oliver Demicoli, 29, from Birzebbuga, was accused of usury, lending money at an interest rate higher than the law allows and relapsing in view of previous convictions.
The two testimonies provided in the case against Demicoli were conflicting and the court ruled that any doubts in the evidence presented favour the accused.
Due to these doubts, the court acquitted the man of all the charges pressed against him.The court was presided over by magistrate Carol Peralta while inspector Michael Mallia prosecuted.
