The producers of the programme X’ Hemm Tajjeb were given a fine of Lm500, which was suspended for six months, after the programme, broadcast on Super One TV, broke various regulations during the editions shown on 13 and 27 May.

In a press statement, the authority said that on 13 May, prices for various items that were being offered for sale were not announced. Apart from this, the authority said that there was no reference to the “cooling off period” and that the manufacturer’s plate on the coffee machine was evidently shown during the programme.

The authority also said that on 27 May, the programme failed to announce the prices for various items on sale as well as omitting the reference to the “cooling off period”.

However, since the last offence by the programme dated back to 2002, the authority decided to suspend the sentence.

The authority also fined the producers of Dejjem Tieghek Becky Lm400 for not adhering to broadcasting regulations during the series shown on 27 April on TVM.

The authority said that during this programme, a clip showing Mr Norman Hamilton, who was introduced on behalf of a commercial company, speaking about cruises offered by a particular vessel. The authority said that this clip was not accompanied by a caption stating that it was an advertisement.

The authority pointed out that it was not the first time that the programme had committed an administrative offence. It called on the producers to settle the fine within one month.Yet another programme, Ejja Oqghod, which is broadcast on NET TV, was found to have breached various regulations but the producers of this programme were not given a fine.

The authority said that the prices for various items on sale during the programme broadcast on 27 April were not announced. Neither was the cooling off period mentioned.

However, since it was the first time that the producers of this programme had been found guilty of an administrative offence, the authority said that in this case, it was only issuing a warning.
