Two motorcyclists were taken to Mater Dei Hospital after suffering serious injuries in separate traffic accidents on Wednesday morning, police said in a statement.

The first accident occurred at around 8am in Triq Valletta, Marsa.

Preliminary investigations found that a collision occurred between a Kymco motorcycle ridden by a 28-year-old Indian man residing in Msida and a Toyota Ractis driven by a 51-year-old woman residing in Rabat.

The second accident occurred around 15 minutes later, at 8.15am, in Triq il-Belt Valletta, Żurrieq.

Initial investigations found that a Honda motorcycle ridden by a 30-year-old woman residing in Żurrieq collided with a Toyota Yaris driven by a 38-year-old woman, also residing in Żurrieq.

Medical teams assisted at the scene of both accidents, and the two motorcyclists were taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance for treatment.

Both were later certified as having suffered from grievous injuries.

Police investigations are ongoing.
