Woman Ordered to be arrested comes to court of her own will

Malta Independent Saturday, 24 July 2004, 00:00 Last update: about 15 years ago

The compilation of evidence against the woman was supposed to continued last Tuesday, but the case was held up after inspector Joseph Mercieca told the court the woman could not be found and the summons had not been handed to her.

Last Tuesday, inspector Mercieca explained that he had searched the woman’s residence but had not succeeded in finding her. Magistrate Scerri Herrera proceeded to order the woman’s arrest since she had not been previously arraigned under arrest.

After reading reports in the media that the court had ordered her arrest, the woman came to court of her own will yesterday. Although nothing was said in court of her alleged disappearance, sources said the woman claimed she could not be found because she was ill and was suffering from migraines.

The woman was ordered to sign everyday at the Birkirkara police station.
