Presenting the sponsorship, BOV’s Gozo branch manager Jack Thewma praised the Gozo Branch of the Malta Red Cross Society for the valuable work it performs in the Gozitan Community. The society plays an active role during various events, providing ambulance posts and first aid services.
It is also active in providing first-aid education to the general public. The society depends on the contribution of volunteers who dedicate part of their free time to being of service to society.
“BOV’s sponsorship reinforces the fulfilment of the bank’s corporate social responsibility within the Gozitan community,” said Mr Thewma.
“We are resolute to continue to take an active role and to be close to the people not only by providing financial services to meet our customers’ needs but also by supporting initiatives which contribute to the island’s social and cultural development.”
Accepting the sponsorship, Malta Red Cross Society Gozo branch chairman Frank Farrugia said that the society depends on donations and sponsorships to continue to carry out its work.
The generous support by Bank of Valletta, he said, was instrumental in the purchase of the new ambulance, which will enable the society to offer more and better services to the Gozitan community.
The society’s secretary general, Etienne Micallef, also attended the presentation.
