The contractors were given the green light because they are some four weeks ahead of schedule, despite finding unexpected complications with some roads during the first phase.

Both contractors have the facilities to cope with the workload of the second phase roads while finishing the first batch of roads, sources at the Roads Ministry said. This will allow them to finish most of the work before it starts raining, avoiding inconvenience to both the public and the contractors.

The start of this work will involve the complete closure of the road from the Tal-Qlejja roundabout junction, on the outskirts of Mosta, up to the Targa Gap roundabout junction in Mosta.

During the work, the following traffic management measures will be put in place.

Traffic at Xemxija roundabout junction:

Traffic in the direction of Rabat will be diverted through Triq Ghajn Tuffieha, Zebbiegh and Mgarr Road

Traffic in the direction of Valletta will be diverted through Dawret San Pawl, Kennedy Drive and Salina Coast Road

Traffic in the direction of Birkirkara will be diverted through Dawret San Pawl, Kennedy Drive and Telgha t'Alla w Ommu

Traffic at junction roundabout (Erba Mwiezeb) between Dawret San Pawl and Triq il-Mosta:

Traffic in the direction of Rabat will be diverted through Dawret San Pawl, Triq Ghajn Tuffieha, Zebbiegh and Mgarr Road.

Traffic in the direction of Valletta will be diverted through Kennedy Drive and Salina Coast Road.

Traffic in the direction of Birkirkara will be diverted through Kennedy Drive and Telgha t'Alla w Ommu.

Traffic in the direction of St Paul's Bay and Cirkewwa will be diverted through Mgarr Road, Zebbiegh and Triq Ghajn Tuffieha.
