Six Hurt in red-light district brawl

The brawl originally started between two Maltese men and an Arab. The Maltese were reportedly a 33-year-old from Ta’ Xbiex and a 52-year old from St Julian’s. The Arab is a 35-year-old Libyan who lives in Ta’ Xbiex.

Police from the Msida District, the Criminal Investigations Department, the Vice Squad, the Economic Crimes Unit and the Mobile Squad rushed to the scene to stop the fight.

The three men as well as an inspector, a sergeant and a police constable were all injured with pointed instruments being used by the men.

The St Julian’s man was rushed to hospital reportedly with a serious injury to his head.

A CMRU statement yesterday morning said the condition of the six men was still unknown.

The case is being investigated by the Msida District police and by the Criminal Investigations Section.
