The slots are depicting popular diving sites and the mess and degradation caused through illegal dumping found in such sites by irresponsible persons.

NTM has been working on marine protection and conservation issues for a number of years and is greatly concerned by the increase in degradation of the environment through the public’s irresponsibility. NTM, has since 1986 been pushing for marine protected areas (MPA) around the Maltese islands. It has also been pushing for Cirkewwa and Delimara to be declared MPA and has started the project as part of the Life project for Dwejra to set up a MPA there. Furthermore, it has also set up a Voluntary Rescue Team aimed towards the protection and rescue of marine mammals and reptiles. Over the last years various rescues have been held of both dolphins and turtles around our Islands together with research on their movements

The organisation said it strongly believed that environmental education should be given top priority, as only in this way will the public realise that if we pollute our seas we are in return affecting our bathing water quality and our economy due to the popularity of the diving tourist industry.
