An investigation linked to drug importation and trafficking has led to the arrest of a 40-year-old Englishman, the police said Friday.

He was arrested after the police carried out a controlled delivery following the earlier seizure of a suspicious package that arrived by post from France.

The package contained around one kilogramme of cocaine, with a street value of approximately €100,000.

A Magisterial Inquiry led by Magistrate Dr. Joe Mifsud LL.D. is being conducted in connection with this case.

The man is expected to be brought to court today before Magistrate Ingrid Bianco.
