The government said that the Auditor General and the National Audit Office Act enabled three members of the Public Accounts Committee to call upon the Auditor General to start an investigation on matters of public spending.
A Department of Information statement said yesterday that it is the duty of persons making allegations to, if they wanted to be taken seriously, make use of these structures to verify what has taken place.
