Some of these partial industrial actions have been in force for months, and in some cases work at the entire department or authority in question comes to a standstill. In the meantime, as no strike has been called by the Union, the full payroll is still being paid out at the taxpayers expense.
These actions are having a detrimental effect on other stakeholders, including clients and companies in the private sector who make use of these services. The MEA appealed for a quick resolution of these conflicts so that work in these organisations can return to normal and the anomalous situation whereby a full pay is paid out for a partial work contribution ceases forthwith.
