Pre-concert drinks were served to guests who turned up in large numbers to enjoy the balmy evening, the music, the company. The dress code was suit-without-tie for the men and the ladies turned up in summer attire, from light flowered strappy dresses to linen trousers and décolleté top, and an assorted selection of attractive jewellery and accessories.

Everyone then sat down by the light of the silvery moon for a one-hour show by former Genesis legend, Steve Hackett who was accompanied by his brother Paul on the flute.

Steve played largely pieces from his past albums but also excerpts by the French composer Erik Satie, who made his mark on French music as a highly unconventional character, his work hovering between plainsong and ragtime, liturgy and cabaret. There were also Bach arrangements and a little jazz...and after this enjoyable concert came to an end it was more drinks, canapés and exchanges about the music, the projects, boats and summer talk in general. Everyone walked back to their treasured wheels somewhat reluctantly, pronouncing it a most enjoyable evening.
