Chev. Emmanuel Fiorentino, opened the exhibition. The following are excerpts from words he wrote for the invitation to the exhibition. “This young artist has already given tangible indications of her abounding keenness for artistic expression. Since her first solo exhibition just a year ago at Ta’ Xbiex, I have been keeping my fingers crossed that sooner or later we will be offered once again another occasion to acknowledge her production.

With this second solo exhibition…those positive expectations are being duly fulfilled. Here again Justine MB continues to explore the human body through live models and ballerinas, but equally well she delves elsewhere with her sensitively-depicted landscapes. I even feel that within the space of just one year her handling of her media and the quality of her design credentials have gained in confidence.

If there was in fact one particular quality in Justine MB’s exhibition last year, which set me thinking about her bright prospects, was her versatility in employing different media and in depicting various genres. Her nudes in particular possess that inner vibrancy which makes them more sensually attuned to the “landscape” of the body. Through her treatment of the human body she manages to create movement from still images. In so doing her figures announce the resonant spark of life that inhabits them.

“That surely applies to her as well. A bubbly character who seems an epitome of joyful living, Justine MB gives me the impression that her subject matter is a mirror image of that thankfulness for existence – not really a common trait among us mortal beings – that constantly shines forth in her. It is no wonder that at all times she fully enjoys the long hours that she dedicates to painting and drawing. It is a catchy feeling that must be equally shared by all those who recognise her talents.”
