GWU Clash with St John’s Co-Cathedral Foundation

Malta Independent Thursday, 26 August 2004, 00:00 Last update: about 15 years ago

In a statement, the GWU said that on Tuesday the Foundation informed part-timers employed at the cathedral who have worked more than 80 hours during August not to report for work until next month. To do this, the foundation closed a number of museums and reduced the services offered to visitors. The union immediately protested against this measure to Frank Pullicino, Industrial Relations and Employment Director, who called for a conciliatory meeting.

The GWU said it was prepared to attend the meeting if the foundation revoked its “anti-democratic decision”, adding that it was giving notice of industrial action.
