Vincent Borg, 54, was accused of assaulting assistant police commissioner Josie Brincat and a constable.
He was also accused of insulting police, disobeying police orders, resisting arrest and breaching the peace.
He pleaded not guilty to all the charges and the court, presided over by magistrate Jacqueline Padovani Grima, set bail against a deposit of Lm1,000 and a personal guarantee of Lm4,000.
Police inspector Roland Cassar prosecuted while Dr Ian Farrugia appeared for the defence.
