Silvio Camilleri, 20, from Gzira and 27-year-old Marlon Parnis from Rabat, were accused of breaking into the Drayton Court and stealing guests’ personal belongings. They were accused of committing similar burglaries at the Dean Court on two occasions and once at the Dean Hamlet. They were also accused of handling stolen property and relapsing in view of previous convictions.

Silvio Camilleri alone was accused of committing seven burglaries at the Dean Court, a further six at the Dean Hamlet and one at St Joseph’s Court. He was also charged with stealing more than Lm1,000 worth of alcohol from the Ta’ Kolina restaurant and damaging private property.

Parnis alone was accused of forging a car licence and driving without a licence or insurance cover. Neither requested bail but informed the court, presided over by magistrate Jacqueline Padovani Grima, that they wished to enrol in a drug rehabilitation programme.

Police inspectors Jeffrey Cilia and Daniel Zammit prosecuted while Dr Franco Debono and Dr Ian Farrugia appeared for the defence.
