Stefan Briffa, 22, admitted throwing a bottle at police officers who were standing guard outside a band club in Birkirkara on 21 August at 12.30pm.
He was also accused of inciting people to commit a crime, threatening people with stones and breaching the peace. The court, presided over by magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna, told the accused that he was in court for doing something absolutely stupid.
“If you had just enjoyed the feast normally, like other people, you would not even be in this court room,” he said. The magistrate told the accused to behave himself at the feast next time around.
He conditionally discharged him for one year and placed him on probation for the same period.
Police superintendent Neville Aquilina and inspector Victor Aquilina prosecuted.
